So, we’re now well into the swing of 2016, even though Christmas feels like last week... Spring time now means one thing, the run up to our first ANSecurity charity event of the year.
Our annual British Heart Foundation London to Brighton bike ride team has now been assembled and the training has now started. Eek! This year’s 54 mile slog from Clapham Common to the Brighton sea front is on the 19th June 2016 and our squad has doubled in size!
Charity events are no secret to ANSecurity, we completed last year’s London to Brighton ride along with the ‘Do It For Charity Text Santa Run’ in December, we managed to raise almost £1000 for various charities, and this year we want to smash the thousand pound mark!
The BHF London to Brighton Bike Ride has gone strength to strength over the years with over 650,000 riders who have taken part and have raised over £40 million since 1980, and we’re extremely proud to be part of this cause. Heart disease affects millions of men and women in the UK and the single most common cause of death in Europe under 65.
So… some of the team! This year we have last year’s winners Alex Balcombe and Giles Barford back on board and leading the team, Giles is an experienced and accomplished rider while Alex completed London to Brighton last year at his first attempt, he has also undertaken a personal trainer to work him hard to be in the best possible shape for June. Next we have Matt and Aaron, who would much rather be in the pub with a beer… We could go through the rest of the team, however we’ll be here all day!
So with a completely mixed team of ability, age and experience it’s looking to be an interesting day for some of us, let’s hope the weather holds out. (Fingers crossed)
Here's some training shots:
Alex adds “As a veteran of last year’s ride, I have a fair idea of what to expect at this year’s L2B Bike ride. Even though, it is extremely grueling riding 54 miles…. Completing the race with other enthusiastic riders, doing it for charity and getting great support along the way makes the day worthwhile. I am looking forward to joining members of ANSecurity as we tackle this great challenge together.”
Any donation big or small will be hugely appreciated, let’s work together to help the British Heart Foundation lead the fight against heart disease and give those that are less fortunate the chance to live healthier and happier lives.
